Matt Sheets is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and has been a fitness professional since 2019. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Science from Central College and has spent the past five years coaching at Performance Health & Fitness.

Matt specializes in athlete strength and conditioning as well as generalized strength and hypertrophy training. His coaching philosophy centers on long-term consistency, clear goals, and steady progress. He believes that low expectations paired with high hopes and consistent effort create lasting success. Clients can expect workouts that are challenging yet safe, designed to improve their day, not destroy it.

Matt loves coaching movements that teach clients how to use their bodies effectively rather than punish them for effort. The Olympic lifts, the snatch, and the clean and jerk are his favorite exercises to coach and perform. He works with individuals of all abilities who are willing to learn, improve, and commit to the process.

His journey into strength and conditioning began later in life, driven by his own experience as an athlete who lacked proper guidance and understanding. That experience fuels his passion for helping others train with purpose and direction. Matt emphasizes sleep, smart nutrition, and training consistency as the foundation for progress.

Outside the gym, Matt is a devoted fan of the Chicago Cubs, listens to Tool during lifts, and avoids cardio machines whenever possible.

Matt’s favorite part of coaching is seeing clients become more capable and confident in the gym. He believes the gym is simply a community of people striving for self-improvement, and he’s committed to making every member feel welcome, supported, and empowered.
