At Performance Health & Fitness, we want to see all of our members reach their fitness, health, and nutrition goals. We also love to support our local community and are proud to announce our first annual FREE SUMMER EVENT SERIES.
Our free summer event series is available to members, as well as the general public – and includes three months of fitness activities lead by Performance Health & Fitness staff. The series includes a wide range of activities that promote health, wellness, and living an active lifestyle – no matter your age or ability. These free workouts are out and around the community and include free guided instruction and post-workout snacks.
GUIDED TRAIL WALK+RUN // Saturday June 9th, July 14th, and August 11th (6:30 a.m. start time)
Trail running (and walking) is a great way to get the steps in for those who don’t care for running on sidewalks or on a treadmill. Squire Point Trail in North Liberty, Iowa is a gorgeous and serene setting – especially in the morning. Join members of the Performance Health & Fitness staff for a guided tour of the main Squire Point Trail loop, which is an easy, short (approximately 1 mile) and shaded hiking trail. Based on attendance, we will break into groups that will match ability, from those are looking for a leisurely walk, to those who can easily run three miles. We will start and end together in the large parking lot, and end with refreshments provided courtesy of Performance Health & Fitness. Directions from Iowa City:
Take Dubuque Street North for approx. 5 miles and turn right onto Cedar Dr NE, which includes a trail sign to identify the park. If you’ve passed Liberty High School, you’ve gone too far. There is a large, free parking lot. Restrooms and water are not provided. Cell phone service was at a medium strength while on the trails.
Directions from North Liberty:
Take Dubuque Street South past Liberty High School, then turn left onto Cedar Dr NE. If you’ve passed W Overlook Road NE (the road that leads to the Coralville Dam), you’ve gone too far. There is a large, free parking lot. Restrooms and water are not provided.
Please arrive between 6:15 and 6:25 a.m. We will start the run/walk promptly at 6:30 a.m.
GUIDED GROUP BIKE RIDE // Sunday June 17th, July 8th, and August 12th (11:00 a.m. start time)
Biking is a great low-impact activity that will work up a sweat while you tour the beauty of our local community. Join members of the Performance Health & Fitness staff for guided bike rides that will range between 15 and 25 miles in length. These rides are ideal for individuals who can ride 12-22 miles-per-hour and will consist of a mix of trails and streets. Each ride will start and end at Performance Health & Fitness, located at 3290 Ridgeway Drive (across from Forever Green Nursery and just down the street from North Central Junior High). Participants should bring a spare tube, water bottle, and phone/ID. Snacks will be provided by Performance Health & Fitness. Out and back route options will be provided for those who cannot ride 25 miles.
Please arrive between 10:40 and 10:50 a.m. We will start the bike ride promptly at 11:00 a.m.

PERFORMANCE BOOT CAMP // Saturday June 16th, July 21st, and August 18th (8:00 a.m. start time)
We’re taking our classic Performance Health & Fitness Boot Camp on the road. Join us at one of our amazing community parks for a bit of fresh air and a certified personal trainer lead HIIT (high-intensity interval training) workout that focuses on improving your overall body composition, strength, and cardio endurance. Come ready for fun – we’ll be adjusting the workout for all ages and abilities (no workout experience required!). Participants should bring a towel, sunscreen, and water bottle. Snacks will be provided by Performance Health & Fitness.

Park in the lot off S Ridge Drive (not in the North Ridge Pavilion lot), and walk north on N Ridge Trail to get to the grassy park area to the east of the large playground.
Summer Series Tips & Reminders
Parking: please keep other activities in mind when commuting and parking for our Boot Camp events, such as baseball and softball at the fields located at Penn Meadows Park. Car pool, walk or ride a bike if possible. Specifically for our North Ridge Park event, please do not park in the Pavilion parking lot. Use the lot located off of South Ridge Drive via Holiday Road.
