Eric grew up in North Liberty and graduated from Iowa City West High School. At the University of Northern Iowa he played offensive line and threw the discus/hammer and at time he weighed over 300 lbs. After a few years pursuing his aspirations in track and football he made the decision to focus more on his academics and transferred to the University of Iowa to complete his degree. He focused on losing the weight and getting healthier. He accomplished this through diet and making a hobby out of his exercise in endurance sports, specifically triathlons, ultramarathons and competitive cycling. Over the course of time he has been able to lose more than 100 lbs. This is what sparked his interest in wellness and nutrition. After completing his bachelor’s degree he chose to pursue the dietetic program and internship at Iowa State University. He has extensive experience in clinical nutrition, sports nutrition and weight management. His goal is to provide the highest quality of nutritional information and consultation for the members of Performance and the surrounding area. Eric is a competitive cyclist and rides for an elite amateur/professional development cycling team called Above and Beyond Cancer Powered by Scheels. In his spare time both he and his wife run ultramarathons, fly fish, camp, rock climb and they love spending time with their Dog Mav.
