July is National Blueberry Month

Blueberries are a sweet treat that are bursting with nutrients! They are an excellent source of vitamin C and manganese, and provide a good amount of fiber in each bite-sized berry. Blueberries contain high amounts of antioxidants, which can help to decrease risk of illnesses and diseases caused by oxidative stress. Anthocyanins are what give blueberries their vibrant color, but also provide antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Blueberries play a role in promoting good health. Research has shown that daily consumption of blueberries may help reduce blood pressure.

Blueberries are great raw or try them as a topping on a salad, oatmeal, or yogurt, mixed in muffins or pancakes, or in these delicious energy balls. Grab a handful of nutrient packed blueberries, and celebrate National Blueberry Month!
